Outstanding Achievement! Unesa Emerges as Top Performer at the 2025 LPTK Cup
SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (Unesa) solidified its reputation as a leading sports university after winning the 2025 LPTK Cup, held at Medan State University on Saturday, November 15, 2025.The Unesa delegation returned home with a total of 13 medals, consisting of 5 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals, across a number of sports.
This victory was significant for Unesa, given that the competition brought together educational institutions from across Indonesia. They competed closely in various events, but the Home of Champions contingent demonstrated consistent medal wins from the first day of competition until the final.
In table tennis, the Unesa team won two medals. The silver medal came in the men's singles, while the gold medal came in the men's doubles after the Unesa athletes performed solidly throughout the final and closed out the match with a convincing victory.
Another significant contribution came from petanque, which has become a mainstay of Unesa in recent years. This sport provided one gold medal in the women's doubles event.
In addition, two other medals came in the executive open triples event, each with a silver and a bronze medal. An additional silver medal was also won in the men's doubles event, demonstrating the competitiveness of the Unesa petanque team in all categories.
The most impressive achievement came in badminton. The Unesa contingent won four medals in the executive and achievement categories. Gold medals came in the executive men's doubles A and executive men's doubles B categories. Meanwhile, the achievement men's doubles and team events each contributed a silver medal.
Unesa Rector, Nurhasan, also known as Cak Hasan, expressed his pride in this achievement. According to him, this victory met his target and was not just about the number of medals, but also strong evidence that Unesa is increasingly solid as a university that places serious emphasis on sports and the development of sports science.
"We always take every competition seriously, whether it involves lecturers or students. With high sportsmanship, we give our best in every sporting event," he said.
He added that this winning momentum must be maintained and used as a foundation to foster a stronger sports ecosystem, not only on campus but also for Indonesian society at large.
The man, who also serves as Chair of the Indonesian Rectors' Forum (FRI), emphasized that Unesa will continue to strengthen athlete development and maximize sports science research to develop national sporting achievements.
