Campus UNESA 5 - On Friday, March 6, 2026, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) Campus 5 held a Community Iftar Gathering in front of the main gate of Campus 5 under the inspiring theme “Weaving Ramadan Harmony: Synergy between the Academic Community of UNESA Campus 5 and the Local Government in Strengthening Social Care and Shared Blessings.” The event became a meaningful moment of togetherness, reflecting the university’s commitment to building strong partnerships with society during the sacred month of Ramadan.

This gathering was designed to strengthen synergy between the university and the broader community, emphasizing that higher education institutions must not be detached from social realities. Instead, universities are expected to serve as transformative agents, actively engaging with and empowering the community. Through this event, UNESA Campus 5 reaffirmed its dedication to collaborative development, ensuring that academic excellence goes hand in hand with social responsibility and public service.

The event was honored by the presence of the Rector of Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., along with members of the MWA (Board of Trustees), SAU (Academic Senate), and university officials. Representatives from the Government of Magetan Regency, including Forkopimda, also attended, along with elementary and senior high school communities, parents living in the campus area, and local youth organizations (Karang Taruna). Their presence symbolized a united commitment between academia, government, and society to foster inclusive and sustainable regional development.

A significant highlight of the event was the involvement of local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) through a community bazaar. This initiative aimed to elevate regional by providing them with a platform to showcase their products and expand their market reach. By integrating local entrepreneurs into campus activities, the university contributed directly to stimulating local economic growth and strengthening the regional economy.

At the same time, the event served as a vibrant stage for student creativity and entrepreneurship. Student activity units presented performances, and student-led entrepreneurial booths demonstrated innovation and business potential. This experiential platform allowed students to cultivate leadership skills, creative expression, and entrepreneurial spirit, aligning academic learning with practical, real-world application. Such initiatives nurture graduates who are not only intellectually capable but also adaptive and economically productive.

In the spirit of Ramadan’s compassion and solidarity, the gathering also included a sponsorship program for 250 orphans. This act of social care reflected the university’s deep concern for vulnerable groups and reinforced humanitarian values within the academic community. By extending support and kindness to those in need, the event strengthened social bonds and fostered empathy among students, staff, and community members.

Overall, the Community Iftar Gathering at UNESA Campus 5 delivered meaningful social, economic, and educational impact. It strengthened institutional collaboration, empowered local businesses, nurtured student entrepreneurship, and reinforced the university’s role as a community-centered institution.
