UNESA Campus 5 Achieves Two Major Awards in MURI Literacy Record: Exceeding Presentation Targets & Winning 2nd Place for Most Book Reviews
SURABAYA, 9 December 2025 — UNESA Campus 5 celebrated outstanding achievements during Universitas Negeri Surabaya’s record-breaking literacy event, which earned a MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) recognition for The Largest Student Book Review Presentation. Not only did Campus 5 significantly contribute to the national accomplishment, but it also exceeded its presentation targets and secured 2nd Place as the Faculty with the Most Book Reviews.
The event, held at the Rectorate Auditorium of Lidah Wetan Campus II, marked a historic milestone in Unesa’s literacy movement. From a total of 11,078 validated reviews covering 3,191 book titles, contributions from Campus 5 students stood out in both quantity and quality.
Campus 5’s achievements became even more prominent when the UPT Library’s quality assurance team announced that this campus surpassed its review presentation targets, demonstrating strong discipline, preparedness, and commitment to strengthening the culture of reading among its students.
In addition, UNESA Campus 5 proudly earned Second Place as the Faculty with the Highest Number of Book Reviews, highlighting the growing literacy enthusiasm among Magetan students and their competitive presence at the university level.
Head of the UPT Library, Suroto, noted that the record-setting activity reflects the institution’s commitment to advancing literacy across all Unesa campuses, including Campus 5 Magetan. These efforts serve as a foundation for developing an AI-based Smart Library, a digital repository for student publications, and various sustainable literacy programs.
Unesa Rector Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes. (CakHasan) expressed his appreciation for the dedication shown by the students,emphasizing that literacy should grow beyond numbers and become a sharedacademic culture.
“Students must never detach themselves frombooks. Whether they like it or not, they must read and learn. It is arequirement of life and a necessity for the future,” Cak Hasan stated.
During the same occasion, the UPT Librarylaunched the ‘Perpus Muter Kampus’ Literacy Webinar Series, held everyWednesday, and announced several competitive awards, including categories forthe most book reviews, best literacy video, and best reading room.
The recognition of Unesa Campus 5 as 2ndPlace for Most Book Reviews signifies the rising literacy strength ofregional campuses and affirms that Magetan’s students are making meaningfulcontributions to Unesa’s nationwide literacy achievements.
