Webinar on “Building Students’ Mental Resilience” Collaboration between PPIS Directorate and Counseling Services, UNESA Campus 5
UNESA Campus 5 – 3 October 2025, TheDirectorate of Prevention and Handling of Intolerance and Sexual Violence(PPIS) in collaboration with the Counseling and Guidance Services (BK) of UNESACampus 5 organized a Webinar on Building Students’ Mental Resilience as part ofefforts to create a healthy, safe, and student-friendly academic environment.
The event featured two keynote speakers, ImanPasu Purba, S.H., M.H. from the PPIS Directorate and Dr. Bakhrudin Al Habsy,M.Pd. from UNESA Campus 5 Counseling Services. The program was officiallyopened with remarks from Prof. Dr. Sarmini, M.Hum., Director of UNESA Campus 5,and Prof. Dr. Mutimmatul Faidah, M.Ag., Director of the PPIS (Directorate ofPrevention and Strategic Issue Management) UNESA.
In her remarks, Prof. Mutimmatul Faidahemphasized the importance of mental health awareness, stating, “There is nohealth without mental health.” She underlined that students need to beequipped with the skills to maintain mental well-being in order to withstandchallenges in both academic life and society.
In the first session, Iman Pasu Purba, S.H.,M.H. highlighted that on average, two reports of mental health-related casesare received daily. According to him, having a healthy mind does not only makestudents adaptive but also enables them to actively contribute to institutions,society, and the nation.
He outlined several factors influencingstudents’ mental health, including academic pressure, economic conditions,social relationships, family, individual psychological state, health andlifestyle, campus environment, and digital/social media use.
Iman also reminded participants of the sixtypes of violence students might encounter: physical, psychological, bullying,sexual, discrimination-intolerance, and policy-based violence.
“If you become a victim, do not hesitate to report it to your faculty oruniversity counseling services,” he stressed.

In the second session, Dr. Bakhrudin Al Habsy,M.Pd., as Coordinator of UNESA Campus 5 Counseling Services, discussed thecommon challenges faced by new students, such as homesickness and cultureshock. He emphasized the importance of mutual respect and building broad socialnetworks.
“Students should take advantage of campus resources, make time for rest, andnever hesitate to seek counseling,” he encouraged.
Students can access counseling through theirUNESA SSO accounts by selecting the e-counseling service, or via the My UNESAapplication to schedule direct consultations with counseling lecturers at UNESACampus 5.
Furthermore, the Counseling Services at UNESACampus 5 have begun scheduling counseling classes for various study programsand are also planning to establish “a peer counselor community” as part of thestudent mental health support program.
Through this webinar, it is expected thatUNESA Campus 5 students will gain greater awareness of the importance ofmaintaining mental health and making use of the available counseling services,enabling them to grow into resilient, healthy, and productive individuals.
