International Collaborative Class on Global Intercultural Communication at UNESA Campus 5
5th of February 2026 - UNESA Campus 5 held an International Collaborative Class as part of its International Inbound Program in collaboration with The University of Sydney, emphasizing experiential global learning and intercultural engagement.
The collaborative class was conducted under the course Global Intercultural Communication, taught by Ms. Wirdatul Khasanah, M.A., and was attended by 16 students from the University of Sydney and 32 students from various study programs at UNESA Campus 5. The class brought together students from different cultural and academic backgrounds in an inclusive international learning environment.
During the session, students were divided into mixed groups, combining UNESA and University of Sydney students. Within these groups, students actively shared and discussed their respective cultural backgrounds, including values, social practices, communication styles, and everyday cultural experiences. This group-based activity encouraged open dialogue, mutual respect, and deeper intercultural understanding.
The interactive learning process allowed students to directly experience intercultural communication in practice rather than theory alone. Through storytelling, discussion, and reflection, students developed greater awareness of cultural diversity and the importance of effective communication across cultural boundaries.
The class atmosphere was highly participatory, with students demonstrating enthusiasm, curiosity, and critical engagement throughout the session. The collaborative grouping model also fostered peer learning, enabling students to learn from one another while building confidence in communicating across cultures.
This international classroom activity not only enriched the Global Intercultural Communication course but also strengthened students’ global competencies, including intercultural sensitivity, communication skills, and global citizenship. The program reflects UNESA’s ongoing commitment to internationalization, innovative teaching practices, and meaningful global partnerships.
