Eid al-Adha 1447 H at UNESA 5 Campus: Strengthen the Spirit of Sincerity, Solidarity and Social Welfare

27th of May 2026 - UNESA 5 Campus held a series of Eid al-Adha 1447 H celebrations filled with solemnity, togetherness, and meaningful reflection. The event, attended by lecturers, administrative staff, students, and members of the surrounding community, became an important moment to strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah and reinforce the values of sacrifice and social care exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim AS. In addition to its religious significance, the activity also reflected the university’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The celebration began with the Eid al-Adha congregational prayer held at the UNESA 5 Campus area. Since early morning, worshippers gathered in a peaceful and reverent atmosphere to perform the prayer together at Joglo Al-Hasan Mosque. The Eid prayer was led by Ach. Sudrajad Nurismawan, M.Pd. as the imam, while the sermon was delivered by Dr. Riki Nasrullah, M.Hum.

In his khutbah, Dr. Riki Nasrullah emphasized the sincerity and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS in carrying out Allah’s command. He explained that Eid al-Adha is not merely an annual religious celebration, but also a reminder of the importance of sacrifice, faith, sincerity, and compassion toward others. These values, he noted, are highly relevant in strengthening social harmony and encouraging collective responsibility within society.

He further stated that the values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim AS should inspire daily life, including within educational institutions and society. The spirit of sharing and helping others, according to him, is essential to strengthening social solidarity and building a caring, humanistic academic community. This spirit also aligns with the implementation of SDGs by encouraging inclusive social welfare and sustainable community engagement.

Following the Eid prayer, the event continued with the slaughtering of sacrificial animals carried out collaboratively by the entire academic community of UNESA 5 Campus. Lecturers, administrative staff, students, Student Association organizations (HMP), and the Student Executive Board (BEM) actively participated in every stage of the activity, including preparation, slaughtering, meat packaging, and distribution. The collaborative involvement of all campus elements reflected the implementation of SDG 17 through partnerships and collective participation for social benefit.

This year, UNESA 5 Campus collected a total of 15 sacrificial animals consisting of 14 goats and 1 cow. The cow was donated by the Rector of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) as a form of support for religious and social activities on campus. Meanwhile, the goats were contributed by lecturers, staff members, and students participating in the qurban program

The goat donors included Prof. Sarmini, Mr. Gading Gamaputra, Mr. Galih Wahyu Pradana, H. Sujatno, S.E., M.M., Ms. Purwanti Sundari, Mr. Rangga Hadi Pranata, Mr. Heri Istiono, Ms. Attala Firly Insyira Junior bin Eko Winarto, Mr. Nur Rizki Wijaya, Mr. Erwan Robiyanto, Mr. Bagus Sutarto, Mrs. Ratu, Ms. Raffa, as well as students of UNESA 5 Campus who also took part in the sacrificial offering this year. Their participation reflected the strong spirit of togetherness, generosity, and social responsibility within the campus community.
