41 Student Teams in Magetan Compete in Civic and Political Knowledge Quiz, A Collaboration Between UNESA and the Magetan Regency Government

30th November 2025 — A total of 41 student teams from
senior high schools, vocational schools, and Islamic senior high schools across
Magetan Regency took part in the Civic and Political Knowledge Quiz
Competition, an event designed to strengthen political literacy, national
awareness, and students’ academic competencies. The program was organized
through a collaboration between the Magetan Agency for National and Political
Unity (Bakesbangpol) and the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) with support
from the Regional Education Office (Cabdin Dik) and Ministry of Religious
Affairs.
The participants
consisted of 14 teams from senior high schools, 18 from vocational schools, and
9 from Islamic senior high schools, making a total of 41 competing teams. The
competition awarded winners in six categories.
Support from Bakesbangpol and the Education
Office
The Head of
Bakesbangpol emphasized that this competition reflects the Magetan Government’s
strong commitment to improving the quality of human resources. After many years
of conducting political socialization activities, this year’s program was
developed into a more engaging format through a quiz competition.
The Regional
Education Office also highlighted that the competition motivates students to
showcase their best abilities while helping schools demonstrate their
excellence. The event aims to broaden students’ civic knowledge and strengthen
their national insight.
UNESA as an Educational Partner
Prof. Dr. Sarmini,
M.Hum, Director of Campus UNESA 5, bringing greetings from the UNESA Rector,
Prof. Dr. Nurhasan., M.Kes., introduced the university’s profile, highlighting
that UNESA currently has over 70,000 students, 200 study programs, and was
awarded 1st Place in the 2024 Key Performance Indicators (IKU). UNESA also
shared various academic opportunities available to Magetan students, such as Double
Degree programs and University scholarships .
Students were
encouraged to prepare strong English proficiency, portfolios, leadership
experiences (OSIS), and participation in national and international
competitions, especially with the upcoming launch of UNESA’s International
Class next year. In addition, all participants will receive an official
certificate that can be used as a portfolio for university admissions.
Message from the Regent of Magetan
In a virtual
address, the Regent of Magetan, Hj. Nanik Endang Rusminarti, M.Pd., expressed
that this competition is essential for enhancing students’ academic
performance, teamwork, motivation, and civic awareness. The regional government
hopes that the collaboration between Bakesbangpol and UNESA, will continue to
nurture Magetan’s young generation to become knowledgeable, competitive, and
nationally conscious.
A Platform to Build Character and Knowledge
Beyond being a
competition, the event serves as a platform for character building, encouraging
students to understand political dynamics, governance, and democratic values.
Participants were urged to make the most of the opportunity and give their best
performance.
